Translated Services: Sunday 10:45a
Vision Statement Our primary business is to introduce, guide, embrace and train deaf people for an eternal relationship with God.
Illona SmithIllona Smith's involvement with deaf ministry started many years ago, the first exposure being through a co-worker. He told Illona that his entire hearing family went to church regularly but he never got much out of it because there was no sign language interpreter for him. God touched her heart that day. This was almost 30 years ago. After a short time, he began to teach her American Sign Language (ASL). Because of his encouragement, She attended school, workshops, seminars, and deaf-related activities to learn to give God her best.
Currently, she is enjoying working as a certified interpreter with Dallas ISD’s Regional Day School Program for the Deaf at Woodrow Wilson High School in east Dallas. She also interprets part-time as needed between El Centro College and Richland College.
"The first time I visited here the Holy Spirit confirmed to me that this is home. It has been a true blessing and I am grateful to God to be in a ministry where I can continue to grow and serve Him."
